Content Marketing Writer

At Stedi, we’re rebuilding the technological backbone of the B2B economy. Trillions of dollars flow annually through a global network of commerce via an archaic framework called EDI, but there hasn’t been a major new EDI platform in decades (you can read more about EDI here).

We make software for developers to help them build modern EDI systems. Our goal is to make software so great that all the world’s business transactions run on our rails – and users won’t know or care, because it works exactly as expected.

We have lightning in a bottle: 50+ engineers and designers working across 7 time zones in 14 countries, shipping products 24 hours a day, 6 days a week; a lean business team to support the company’s infrastructure; passion for eliminating toil and automating what we can; a culture of writing; $71 million in funding from investors like Stripe, Addition, USV, and First Round Capital.

The team you'll work on

As a Content Marketing Writer, you will join the product team. We are focused on developing the right solutions and effectively conveying the value of the Stedi platform to developers and decision-makers. We take our content seriously and we believe that it is the first step in building lasting relationships with developers.

We need you to tell the world about Stedi. This includes writing for our marketing website, our blog, our changelog, and more. You’ll have the help of software engineers, visual designers, and technical writers, but you are in charge of the message.

What you'll do

Own customer messaging. You’ll be in charge of letting customers know how Stedi can significantly improve the status quo for B2B integrations. Whether that’s writing landing pages, launch announcements, blog posts, or event messaging, you’ll be responsible for crafting the message that helps drive more users to our platform.

Understand our prospective customers. You’ll develop a keen understanding of our target customers and the personas, and write content that resonates with them on a deeper level.

Partner with our technical teams. You’ll work with engineering, product, and growth teams to continually update your world view on the industry and what moves the needle for our readers.

You never write alone. We have learned that we do our best work if we work together. The writer writes a draft, the editor gives feedback on it. Same for the next draft; repeat until done. How you write is up to you, because everyone is different, but one part of the writing process is the same for all of us: you never write alone.

Who you are

You champion content. You take pride in your writing and have a portfolio of content that showcases your ability to communicate novel ideas while connecting with your target audience. You have experience being the voice of a company or a brand.

You know how to write for a technical audience. You’re able to distill complex information into digestible, persuasive, actionable copy that helps developers understand how they’ll get the most out of Stedi. You have 3-5 years of experience writing for a technical audience. Bonus if you have experience with SEO strategies.

You are a researcher. You strive to understand the industry and product fit. You even learn the product so you can write for the developers that use it. You have proven your ability to craft messaging that helps capture the hearts and minds of your user base and are deeply curious and always ask questions.

You are a foundation builder. You are eager to come work at a startup and help build the foundation of our writing discipline. You like being in the weeds and delivering high-quality content while growing with the company. Bonus if you have prior experience with a startup or a proven track record on 0-to-1 initiatives.

You speak the language of developers. You might not be a full-blown software engineer, but you like to dabble. You know some basic programming, how to hit an API, and can tinker with Stedi products. You like to use it before you write about it.
