This Draft Standard for Trial Use contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Motor Carrier Pick-up Manifest Transaction Set (215) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. This transaction set can be used to allow shippers, or other parties, to provide a motor carrier with a manifest of all of the shipments tendered to a carrier. It is not to be used to provide a motor carrier with data relative to a load tender, legal bill of lading, pick-up notification, or appointment scheduling.

      The SMD segment is used to provide the primary service level (for example ground, air, two day) and shipment method of payment for all of the packages (shipments) contained in each iteration of the loop.
