The first 60 days of Stedi Agent

We launched Stedi Agent, our AI assistant for the Stedi portal, in August. Its first job was to help Stedi customers recover failed eligibility checks.

Although it’s only been a little over 60 days since launch, many of our eligibility customers are already using the agent as part of their daily operations, and they've run thousands of agent sessions.

This post is our report card. It covers what we’ve seen so far, how customers are using the agent, and what’s next.

Recovering failed eligibility checks

Most failed checks are recoverable. They’re often caused by things like mismatched patient data or temporary payer outages.

When Stedi spots one of these cases, the Resolve with Stedi Agent option appears. When you use it, the Agent runs in Debug view, so you can watch it work in real time.

Eligibility recovery stats

For many Stedi customers, the agent is now the first place they turn when a check fails. Some Stedi customers use the agent to rerun failed checks at the start or end of each day. Others use it weekly to clear out older errors.

Here’s what we’ve seen so far:

  • 27% of Stedi’s eligibility customers use the Stedi Agent to troubleshoot failed checks each week.

  • When used, it resolves 28% of failed checks, turning them into successes, with even higher success rates for some major payers. For example:

    • Aetna: 36%

    • UnitedHealthcare: 63%

    • Cigna: 58%

  • On average, the agent runs about 7 eligibility checks per recovery attempt.

Faster, easier answers for payer questions

In September, we launched Stedi Agent’s newest feature: Payer Finder. Payer Finder lets you get information about Stedi’s Payer Network using conversational prompts. You can ask it questions in plain English, like:

  • “What are the payer IDs for this list of payers?”

  • “Does CMS require transaction enrollment for eligibility checks?”

  • “Does Meritain Health support real-time claims status checks?"

Before, getting those answers meant filtering API responses or running multiple Payer Network searches.

You can access the Payer Finder in the Stedi Portal’s Chats page. Click the Chats icon in the portal nav.

It’s a bit too early to share stats on Payer Finder, but we’re seeing strong early usage.
