Spotlight: Chetan Reddy @ Confido Health

A spotlight is a short-form interview with a leader in health tech. In this spotlight, you'll hear from Chetan Reddy, co-founder and CEO of Confido Health.

What does Confido Health do?

Confido Health provides AI voice and messaging agents that answer every patient call around the clock, remove hold times, and complete common requests end-to-end.

Patients can book or change appointments, confirm insurance, request refills, receive reminders, pay balances, and get post-visit follow-up without waiting. Staff gain time back as the agent updates the EHR or PMS in real time, documents every interaction, and warm transfers only the complex cases.

The result is faster access for patients, fewer voicemails for teams, cleaner data for billing, and a calmer front desk.

How did you end up working in health tech?

Honestly, it wasn’t the plan.

My background was in building AI systems for hard, operational problems. In my first company, DroneNation, we worked on AI for infrastructure mapping, monitoring, and automating workflows in industries that were traditionally slow and manual. That experience taught me two things:

  1. AI only matters when it replaces real human effort, and

  2. The hardest problems live in messy, real-world workflows.

Healthcare kept showing up as the extreme version of that.

When we started Burncal, we went deeper into healthcare operations and quickly realized the issue wasn’t a lack of software. It was that frontline teams were overwhelmed, short-staffed, overworked, and forced to spend their days on administrative tasks instead of patient care.

Before we built anything meaningful, we did something unscalable on purpose.

For months, we shadowed front-desk staff, schedulers, and care coordinators across dozens of practices in the Midwest. We sat next to them. We listened to calls. We watched how appointments actually got booked, how edge cases broke workflows, and how much emotional labor went into “simple” tasks like answering the phone or rescheduling a patient.

That time changed how we thought about healthcare.

It built real empathy, not the kind you get from user interviews, but the kind you earn by watching people juggle five systems, angry patients, and nonstop phones, all day long. It made it obvious that healthcare didn’t need more tools. It needed help.

That insight became Confido Health.

Instead of building software, people had to learn. We started building AI workers that actually do the work: front office operations, patient outreach, scheduling, and follow-ups side by side with human teams. The goal wasn’t automation for its own sake; it was giving teams time back without breaking trust or workflows.

How does your role intersect with revenue cycle management (RCM)?

Confido Health automates the front end of RCM, so revenue starts clean.

Our agents verify insurance in real time, confirm eligibility, capture and update demographics, and collect copays and open balances through secure links or on-call payments. We record every interaction and write it back to the EHR or PMS so billing teams have accurate data on day one.

Complex billing questions or prior balance disputes are warmly transferred to staff with full context. The result is fewer denials, faster collections, and a smoother experience for patients and teams.

What do you think RCM will look like two years from now?

Digital AI Agents will manage most patient financial tasks from scheduling and intake to eligibility, estimates, and payment capture with seamless EHR and billing connectivity.

Patients will receive clear cost information, simple ways to pay, and immediate help in their language at any hour. Human teams will focus on exceptions, counseling, and higher value reviews supported by transparent transcripts and real-time analytics. Practices will see cleaner claims, shorter days in accounts receivable, and stronger patient satisfaction.
