Introducing timeframes for transaction enrollments

You can now see how long – minutes, hours, days, or weeks – it typically takes for transaction enrollments to go live with a payer using the Stedi Payer Network or the Payers API.
The timeframes are based on Stedi’s own operational data – using real enrollments completed through our platform – and payer-specific rules.
You can use the timeframes to plan go-live dates and set realistic expectations with providers.
What is transaction enrollment?
A transaction enrollment registers a provider to exchange a specific healthcare transaction with a payer.
All payers require enrollment for Electronic Remittance Advice (ERAs). For other transactions, it depends on the payer.
You can see whether enrollment is required in the Payer Network or through the Payers API. Now, you can also see how long it typically takes enrollment requests to go live.
Where to find enrollment timeframes
Payer Network
In the Stedi Payer Network, enrollment timeframes are shown in the Payer pane, in the Activation Timeframe field for the transaction type:

Activation Timeframe fields are also listed on the Payer page:

A value of Instant means the enrollment typically goes live within minutes of submission. Other values, like Hours or Days, indicate how long the process usually takes.
Payers API
In Payers API responses, each payer object lists enrollment details, if any, for each transaction type under transactionEnrollmentProcesses. The timeframe field shows the expected enrollment timeframe for the transaction type.
{ "payer": { "displayName": "Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan", "primaryPayerId": "00710", "enrollment": { "ptanRequired": false, "transactionEnrollmentProcesses": { "claimPayment": { // This payer requires enrollment for ERAs. "timeframe": "INSTANT", // ERA enrollment typically takes minutes. "type": "ONE_CLICK" } } }, ... } }
How Stedi manages transaction enrollment
Most clearinghouses make you handle transaction enrollments yourself. Stedi manages them for you.
You can submit enrollment requests using our Enrollments API, a bulk CSV, or the Stedi portal. Once we get the request, we:
Normalize the request to match the payer’s requirements.
Submit it and handle all coordination with the payer.
Notify you if anything else is needed.
Each enrollment has a status you can track in the Stedi portal or the API. We also send you updates by email.
Once the enrollment is live, your provider can start exchanging that transaction with the payer immediately.
Available now
Enrollment timeframes are available on all Stedi plans, including the free Basic plan.
If you want to avoid enrollment bottlenecks, reach out. We’ll help you design a workflow that moves your providers through the enrollment process faster.
