Legal & Compliance Operations Manager

We're solving EDI

At Stedi, we’re rebuilding the technological backbone of the B2B economy. Trillions of dollars flow annually through a global network of commerce via an archaic protocol called Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), but there hasn’t been a major new EDI platform in decades.

In the healthcare sector, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) required that all insurance carriers exchange transactions such as claims, eligibility checks, prior authorizations, and enrollments using a standardized EDI format called X12 HIPAA. A small group of legacy clearinghouses process the majority of these transactions, offering consolidated connectivity to carriers and providers.

Stedi's latest product is the world’s only API-first clearinghouse. By offering a modern API interface, we enable healthcare technology businesses to exchange transactions without dealing with the EDI protocol or carrier-specific connectivity.

Stedi has lightning in a bottle: engineers and designers shipping products week in and week out; a lean business team to support the company’s infrastructure; passion for automation and eliminating toil; $71 million in funding from top investors like Stripe, Addition, USV, Bloomberg Beta, First Round Capital, and more.

With the launch of Stedi Healthcare, we are looking for a legal and compliance professional to ensure our business operations remain seamless and on the cutting edge. This person will be responsible for a growing set of compliance operations as we expand into new markets. • Corporate Document Management. Organize, maintain, and update corporate documents, including incorporation documents, contracts, and resolutions. Ensure all documents are securely stored, accessible, and their required metadata is captured for search and reporting.
  • Financial Audit Support. Assist in preparing Stedi’s financial audit by securing supporting documentation as requested by auditors; help the process move forward by communicating with outside parties.
  • Legal Research. Conduct legal research as needed to support compliance and corporate governance. Provide summaries and recommendations on legal findings.
  • Process Improvement. Continuously assess and improve workflows and processes related to document management, compliance, and contract administration to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Liaison. Act as a point of contact for legal and regulatory inquiries related to corporate administration. Liaise with external legal counsel, regulatory agencies, and other external parties as required.

Who you are

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a compliance, corporate administration, paralegal, or other related role with a strong focus on legal processes and compliance.
  • Healthcare experience strongly preferred but not required.
  • Contact lifecycle management experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal laws regarding corporate governance and compliance.
  • Ability to manage many concurrent open threads without dropping balls; exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Graceful communicator and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external parties.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
At Stedi, we're looking for people who are deeply curious and aligned to our ways of working. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't perfectly match the job description.
