This Draft Standard for Trial Use contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Customer Call Reporting Transaction Set (886) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. This transaction set can be used to enable a broker or manufacturer to communicate retail store level information such as condition of products, shelf space allocation, store conditions, marketing programs in effect, information on competitor products, selective pricing information, display information, etc.

  1. To indicate the start of a transaction set and to assign a control number

  2. To identify a party by type of organization, name, and code

    The N1 segment in the header area is used to identify the sending and receiving parties.
  3. To identify a person or office to whom administrative communications should be directed

    The PER segment in the header area is used to identify contacts for the sending party.
