StoriiCare uses Stedi to automate billing workflows for adult day centers
StoriiCare is an Electronic Health Record (EHR) and system of record for adult day centers and community-based healthcare providers. EHRs are the software systems care providers use to manage patient records and clinical workflows.
Along with clinical documentation, StoriiCare provides integrated tools for compliance, family communication, and billing.
Care organizations across 40 US states and 13 countries use StoriiCare. Users report that they save up to 6 hours per week per staff member.
Challenge
Most providers that use StoriiCare deliver ongoing care. The same participants attend week after week, and most visits are reimbursable services.
Providers must document every visit, because the care record is the evidence behind the claim. StoriiCare lets providers keep the record and the billing in one integrated system.
But claim submission was still manual, and the legacy clearinghouse made it worse. Each customer exported their claims from StoriiCare and keyed them into the clearinghouse portal by hand. The portal was hard enough to use that StoriiCare trained every customer on it, then followed up when they got stuck.
Every new customer meant the same clearinghouse setup and the same training again. As StoriiCare grew, claim submission became a bottleneck.
"The legacy clearinghouse's interface was not intuitive and very slow," says Mirko Jons, Head of Product at StoriiCare. "We knew we needed to switch to another clearinghouse that offered a modern claims submission API we could embed in our product."

Solution
StoriiCare switched to Stedi and built Stedi's APIs directly into its product, including the Professional Claims API for claim submission.
Stedi's documentation was detailed enough that StoriiCare's developers worked from it directly. When they had questions, they used a dedicated Slack channel to chat with Stedi's team. Stedi's average response time is under 10 minutes during business hours.
"Stedi does things right in customer success," says Mirko. "We love how you manage client conversations and how you set up your documentation. You gave us everything we needed."

Stedi also runs every claim through validation checks called claim edits before it reaches the payer. Payers can take hours or days to reject a claim. The edits catch errors up front, so centers avoid the payment delays that rejections cause.
Results
StoriiCare now submits thousands of claims each month through Stedi. Payer acceptance rates have increased compared with their previous clearinghouse.
With Stedi's API embedded in their product, StoriiCare no longer has to train customers on a legacy clearinghouse portal. Customers no longer need to access payer systems directly. They do everything from one place: StoriiCare. That means StoriiCare can onboard more customers faster.
"Our team spends less time getting customers set up and more time helping them get paid," says Mirko.

Stedi's Payer Network also lets StoriiCare reach payers the legacy clearinghouse couldn't, including the Veterans Affairs Community Care Network.
"Many of our centers serve veterans, and those claims used to be a dead end. With Stedi, we know we can reach the payers we need. We no longer worry about the payer network," says Mirko.

"Adult day centers run lean, with small admin teams. Putting documentation, claims, and billing in one system means our customers spend their time on participants, not on portals," says Cameron Graham, Co-Founder and CEO of StoriiCare.
