X12 204 Motor Carrier Load Tender

X12 Release 4010

This Draft Standard for Trial Use contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Motor Carrier Load Tender Transaction Set (204) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. This transaction set can be used to allow shippers or other interested parties to offer (tender) a shipment to a full load (truckload) motor carrier including detailed scheduling, equipment requirements, commodities, and shipping instructions pertinent to a load tender. It is not to be used to provide a motor carrier with data relative to a Less-than-Truckload bill of lading, pick-up notification, or manifest.

    Usage notes

The N102 segment is required when N1 with a qualifier of CA (Carrier) is used. The value sent will not be validated or loaded into DM but is required by the translator. For originators that cannot send the name of the carrier, send an "X". The N102 segment value should contain the name of the carrier (ocean or air) on the BL or Booking. This would only be sent by Originators that are 3PL's (3rd Party Logistic Providers) where the originator is not the carrier of the cargo.

    Usage notes

The N104 segment is required when N1 with a qualifier of CA (Carrier) is used. The N104 segment value should be the 4 letter SCAC code for the carrier (ocean or air) on the BL or Booking.
