This X12 Transaction Set contains the format and establishes the data contents of the Rail Carhire Settlements Transaction Set (414) for use within the context of an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environment. The transaction set can be used to provide for the exchange of Carhire Settlement data including, but not limited to, the following: Current Settlements, First Adjustment Settlements (no penalty), Prior Settlements (penalty on foreign equipment), Summary Transactions and Reclaim Transactions.

  1. To indicate the start of a transaction set and to assign a control number

  2. To communicate necessary data for car hire settlements with leased equipment and identify billing parties and allowed dates

        5. To communicate basis of pricing, such as contract number, quote number, or tariff number

        7. To specify the currency (dollars, pounds, francs, etc.) used in a transaction

        8. To identify the car hire value detail associated with a settlement

  4. To indicate the end of the transaction set and provide the count of the transmitted segments (including the beginning (ST) and ending (SE) segments)
