Spotlight: Vahid Kowsari @ VoxHealth

A spotlight is a short-form interview with a leader in health tech. In this spotlight, you'll hear from Vahid Kowsari, founder and CEO of VoxHealth.
What does VoxHealth do?
VoxHealth builds AI agents that automate healthcare operations. Some of our agents talk directly with patients, answering calls, scheduling appointments, collecting intake details, and verifying insurance. Others work behind the scenes for clinics, handling tasks such as eligibility checks, patient outreach, and remittance reconciliation against the practice's ledger. Every agent connects to the practice management or EHR system, so the work gets done end to end and staff can focus on patient care.
How did you end up working in health tech?
Before VoxHealth, I co-founded ixlayer and served as its CTO. We built a platform that made diagnostic testing accessible to consumers. That work taught me how much of healthcare's friction lives in operations rather than medicine. When AI agents became capable of holding natural conversations and completing real workflows, I saw a chance to take on the administrative load that burdens every practice.
How does your role intersect with revenue cycle management (RCM)?
Much of the revenue cycle is repetitive work that agents handle well. On the patient side, our agents verify eligibility in real time while the patient is still on the line, so coverage problems surface before the visit. On the clinic side, we are automating balance collection and remittance reconciliation. Together, those agents carry a patient from the first call through final payment.
What do you think RCM will look like two years from now?
I expect most routine RCM work to run continuously in the background. Eligibility will be checked at every touchpoint, patients will hear about their cost before they arrive, and remittances will post and reconcile automatically. Billing teams will spend their time on exceptions and appeals. The practices that benefit most will be the ones whose patient-facing and back-office agents share the same real-time data.
