Test mode now supports mock Raw X12 and SOAP Eligibility API requests

We’ve expanded Stedi’s test mode for eligibility checks:

• More endpoints: You can now use a test API key to run mock eligibility checks using our Raw X12 and SOAP Eligibility API endpoints. Previously, you could only use our JSON Eligibility endpoint or the Stedi portal to run mock checks.
  
  

• PDF downloads: You can now download eligibility PDFs for mock eligibility responses using the Stedi portal or Retrieve Eligibility PDF endpoint.
  
  

• Benefits table: You can now view the full benefits table for mock eligibility responses in the Stedi portal. Previously, only the Stedi Agent mock response supported the benefits table.

What is test mode?

Stedi’s test mode lets you run a full eligibility workflow without using real patient data or sending checks to payers.

In test mode, you use test API keys to send predefined mock eligibility checks and get realistic responses – with things like active coverage indicators, copays, and deductibles – using Stedi's real APIs.

You can use test mode for app development and integration tests. Test mode is also well-suited for AI coding agents, like Claude Code and Codex. Agents can use test mode to build and verify eligibility integrations end-to-end without accessing real patient data.

Our mock eligibility requests cover 33 scenarios across 6 payers, including error cases. Each scenario includes copy-paste-ready examples for our JSON, Raw X12, and SOAP endpoints.
