Spotlight: Jonathan Fodi @ Kibu

A spotlight is a short-form interview with a leader in health tech. In this spotlight, you'll hear from Jonathan Fodi, founding engineer at Kibu.

What does Kibu do?

Kibu supports HCBS providers serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Every day, thousands of individuals use Kibu’s content platform - including 500+ on-demand lessons, live streams, and interactive person-centered activities. At the same time, providers who care for these individuals rely on Kibu’s EHR to spend less time on paperwork and more time on support.

How did you end up working in health tech?

I've always been drawn to work that provides impactful resources to people in our communities. Meeting the team and feeling that same fire made the decision easy.

How does your role intersect with revenue cycle management (RCM)?

RCM is the backbone of what we do. We're responsible for ensuring that every dollar flowing through our system is traceable, accurate, and tied back to the claim, service, and member of each organization. Then we make that data accessible and digestible for review.

What do you think RCM will look like two years from now?

Full automation from staff input through book reconciliation. AI lets us build billing engines that enforce correctness at the source, and we're already seeing claim rejections drop significantly.

That has a cascading effect. Fewer rejections mean faster payments. Faster payments mean providers aren't stressed about payroll. Providers qualify for more state-approved services, improve staff pay, and teams are enabled to keep their primary focus on care instead of fixing billing errors.
