Spotlight: William Eliason @ Pebble

A spotlight is a short-form interview with a leader in health tech. In this spotlight, you'll hear from William Eliason, founder of Pebble.

What does Pebble do?

Pebble helps mental health practitioners run and grow their practices. We believe clinicians should spend their time helping clients, not fighting with software. Our goal is to make it easier for therapists to build sustainable independent practices without needing a large administrative team.

Pebble brings scheduling, documentation, billing, client communication, onboarding, and patient self-service into one platform.

How did you end up working in health tech?

Through conversations with friends working in healthcare, I became aware of a gap between the software that practices could afford and the software they actually needed.

The legacy platforms were often expensive, difficult to leave, and filled with add-on fees and bloated features. At the same time, many affordable options felt outdated and frustrating to use.

I saw an opportunity to build something better. With a background in software engineering and entrepreneurship, I felt uniquely positioned to tackle that problem and help independent practitioners grow thriving practices.

How does your role intersect with revenue cycle management (RCM)?

Revenue cycle management is one of the most important parts of running a successful practice. Therapists can provide excellent care, but if billing is inefficient or claims are delayed, the business suffers.

At Pebble, we’re focused on making RCM simple and transparent. Whether a practice is billing insurance or collecting private-pay payments, our goal is to reduce administrative overhead and help providers get paid accurately and on time.

What do you think RCM will look like two years from now?

RCM is undergoing a silent revolution as it moves toward greater automation and transparency.

For decades, healthcare billing has been defined by complexity, manual work, and information asymmetry. That is all changing. Over the next two years, AI-powered systems will automate much of the administrative burden while giving providers and patients unprecedented visibility into claims, coverage, and reimbursement.

The result will be a more fair and transparent healthcare system, where providers and patients have greater visibility, fewer administrative barriers, and revenue cycles that are far easier to navigate than they are today. I’m proud to be a part of making that a reality.
