Eligibility search
Every eligibility check you run is stored in an eligibility search. An eligibility search is a container for all retries of a particular eligibility check. It's similar to how Microsoft Word and Google Docs keep a version history.
For example, if you submit an initial eligibility check with the wrong spelling for a patient's name, you can quickly edit the request details and resubmit it. Stedi stores both the original request and the retry within the same eligibility search. This creates a timeline of your troubleshooting efforts for failed checks and allows you to go back to previous versions if needed.
When you click an eligibility search to view its details, we show you the latest version of the eligibility check by default. The following example shows the details page for an eligibility search. It's showing Check 1, which is the latest version of the eligibility check.
You can view a list of all your eligibility searches on the Eligibility searches page.
Filter eligibility searches
You can filter the list of eligibility searches to find previous eligibility checks you've run in your account.
To filter eligibility searches:
- Go to the Eligibility searches page.
- Click Filters.
- Specify the filter criteria. You can specify the following filters:
- Error code: By the AAA code returned by the payer. For example,
42
errors indicate a connectivity issue. - Payer: By the Payer ID (62308) or business name (such as Cigna)
- Status: By
Active
,Inactive
,Failed
,Started
,Queued
- Date started: A date range for when the initial eligibility check within an eligibility search was submitted. For example, a filter beginning on October 1st would only include eligibility searches with an initial submission on or after October 1st. It would not include an eligibility search with an initial submission on September 30th and a retry on October 1st.
- Error code: By the AAA code returned by the payer. For example,
- Click Apply filters.
Results are sorted by the date of the original eligibility check within the eligibility search, with the most recent listed first.
Eligibility search statuses
The status of an eligibility search is determined by the most recent eligibility check in the record. For example, if the most recent iteration of a check failed, the status of the entire eligibility search is Failed
, even if a previous version of the request succeeded.
An eligibility search can have one of the following statuses:
Status | Description |
---|---|
Queued | Stedi placed the eligibility check in its internal queue and will send it to the payer when resources are available. This status is common when you run batch eligibility checks. You can typically expect the status to change to Started within a few seconds. |
Started | Stedi sent your eligibility check to the payer and is waiting for a response. |
Failed | The payer returned an error code in the response. |
Inactive | The payer's response doesn't contain an active eligibility and benefit type. |
Active | The payer's response contains an active eligibility and benefit type. These are the following benefit type codes:
